YOUR (BOASTFUL) RESUME:

Do not forget there is always a background check! So never Lie to HR!
One is also judged on their e-mail address. Especially if it's something inappropriate like johnlikestodrink@gmail.com or kinkyboots007@yahoo.com.
There is a myth out there that a resume has to be one page. So people send their resumes in a two-point font. Nobody is going to read that.
The trickiest question at a job interview is "What is your weakness?" Although there is no such ideal answer. If one says they have no weaknesses then they are either lying or ignorant. If a diplomatic answer like "I am perfectionist" or "I work so hard that I don't have a work-life balance," then it seems dramatic. The best one can do is mention a tiny flaw that has an obvious solution like " I generally prefer to work on one project at a time but I have been trying to change that ever since I realized the importance of multitasking."
Most of the personnel managers use applicant-tracking systems that scan resumes for keywords. The secret to getting your resume through the system is to pull keywords directly from the job description and put them on.
"People assume someone's reading their cover letter. I haven't read one in 11 years." HR Director at a financial services firm.
